Conference theme & overview: We are excited to announce this year’s theme of “Fire on the Mountain” for the 2010 AEE Southeast regional conference. This theme and conference will focus our attention on igniting (or reigniting) passion for experiential education in the southeast. We realize that the past few years have led many of us and our programs through difficult times. The energy that will be created throughout the weekend will be sure to rejuvenate our programs as well as our community of experiential educators here in the southeast. We hope that you will take the weekend’s fire and passion back with you to your work place and life as a whole.  With all of this in mind, there are many highlights that we are looking forward to sharing with you. In deciding upon this year’s location, we are thrilled to bring the SE conference back to beautiful western North Carolina and the Asheville area. We believe that the Montreat/Black Mountain location will be a treat for everyone from the adventure enthusiast to those of you that look forward to kicking back on a rocking chair in Montreat and enjoying the wonderful Blue Ridge mountain views. Our schedule will be jam packed with opportunities to soak in our natural surroundings and the mountain retreat that we hope you will embrace. The conference committee is excited about the strong compilation of workshops that are coming together as well as a dynamic keynote speaker, exciting playnote activities, and some of the finest entertainment that the area has to offer. So, whether it’s your first or twenty-first AEE conference, we look forward to sharing the invaluable networking and education opportunities that the weekend will hold as we fan the flames of experiential education together.

Location Information—The AEE SE 2010 Conference will be held at the Montreat Conference Center just outside of Black Mountain, NC and minutes from Asheville. The conference committee is excited about bringing the SE conference back to the Asheville area and we trust that the town and community of Montreat (Mountain Retreat) will be the perfect setting to rekindle our flame and passion as a region towards experiential education.
